Computing & Storage

Computing and storage are essential to supporting cutting edge research in virtually all health related domains such as genomics, neurology, population health, and radiology.

Data Analysis

Software and compute infrastructure plays a critical role in the processing and analysis of data in order to help unlock insights.  Research scientists utilize different software packages such as Python, R, Matlab, and SAS to leverage hundreds of processing units in parallel often required for heavy scientific workloads involving big data and machine learning.

Storage & Big Data

Data is key in scientific research applications.  Jefferson makes available petabytes of storage to its research community in the form of both bulk and fast storage.  In addition, various cloud-based storage options are also available.  These options provide the ability to handle different requirements in capacity, performance, regulation (e.g. HIPAA), and data protection.  We have an High Performance Computing cluster that comprises 15 nodes and GPFS storage.

Policies & Governance

Responsible use and handling of data is critical to the long-term functioning of our organization.  We provide information on how to access and utilize Jefferson's required electronic lab notebooks (LabArchives) and source control systems that provide versioning, data storage capabilities, and accountability to your research
