Empowering Individuals to Respond Quickly

A national public health initiative developed by the American College of Surgeons that empowers individuals to act as immediate responders in life-threatening bleeding emergencies. By promoting rapid intervention, the program aims to reduce preventable deaths caused by uncontrolled bleeding.

Through brief, hands-on training, participants learn how to recognize severe bleeding and apply simple, lifesaving techniques—such as applying direct pressure, packing wounds, and using tourniquets—until professional help arrives.

Designed for community members of all backgrounds, the program equips participants with the skills and confidence to respond effectively in emergencies that can occur anywhere, from everyday accidents to large-scale events.
