Name: MitoCare Center for Mitochondrial Image Research & Diagnostics

1020 Locust Street
Jefferson Alumni Hall, Suite 527
Philadelphia, PA 19107

Our Goals

  • To be the first Academic Center to focus on mitochondrial imaging and diagnostics and become an internationally acclaimed research institute and educational resource for mitochondrial studies.
  • To integrate cutting-edge imaging with state-of-the-art metabolic, genetic, and proteomic research.
  • To decipher mitochondrial contributions to normal and impaired tissue function.
  • To elucidate how mitochondrial dysfunction impacts human diseases.
  • To perform translational research in neurological, cardiac, muscular, and liver disorders for diagnostic and therapy discovery.

We are very excited to open the MitoCare Center at Jefferson and look forward to exploiting microscopic imaging and other advanced technologies to delineate the multiple emerging mechanisms by which mitochondria are involved in normal tissue function and human diseases... I often receive calls from patients looking for help with their illness and this resource would help meet that need.
