Postdoctoral & Lab Manager Position
Mitochondria-SR Communication: Calcium, ROS and Bioenergetics Signaling in Cardiac Muscle Cells
My lab is seeking one postdoctoral fellow and one lab manager to conduct research in mitochondria-SR crosstalk signaling in healthy and diseased cardiac muscle cells. The lab currently focuses on elucidating the mechanisms of energetic homeostasis in the beating heart, privileged Ca2+ transport from SR to mitochondria, the non-canonical role of DRP1 in regulating cardiac energetics, and various forms of mitochondrial permeability transition pores.
Our lab collaborates extensively with several investigators, including Dr. Csordas in MitoCare at Thomas Jefferson University, Dr. Wang at University of Washington, Dr. Yoon at Augusta University and Dr. Pavlov at NYU. We publish extensively as indicated in Google Scholar with over 13,000 citations and 59 h-index.
Applicants for both positions must have profound experiences in cardiac physiology and/or mitochondrial biology. Research skills in single cardiomyocytes isolation, Langendorff heart perfusion, Ca2+ imaging, confocal microscopy, electrophysiology, biochemical and molecular biology will be beneficial. The candidates should be able to carry out experiments independently and collaborate and publish with other lab members. A solid record in scientific publications and skills in presentations and grant writings are valuable. I have a strong track record in training the next generation of scientists with numerous former trainees who obtained excellent positions in academia and industry.
My lab, Center for Translational Medicine, is organizationally within the Department of Medicine of Sidney Kimmel Medical College.
The lab is contiguous to the laboratories of the Center for Mitochondrial Imaging Research and Diagnostics that has a critical mass of renowned investigators working collaboratively on mitochondrial signaling and pathogenesis research.
Thomas Jefferson University is located in the vibrant Center City, five blocks from the Independence Hall in the historic area of Philadelphia.
