Inclusion & Exclusion Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- Patients 18 years old or older
- Open and Laparoscopic surgery (as long as a GPOCUS view can be obtained safely and without patient discomfort)
- Colon surgery (colectomy/proctectomy)
- Small bowel resection
- Scheduled/elective surgery
Exclusion Criteria
- History of gastroparesis
- History of gastric/bariatric surgery
- Intubated
- Large open abdominal wounds (including abdominal wound vac)
- Complex abdominal wall reconstruction
- Class III/IV wound class (contaminated/infected/dirty)
- Emergency surgery
- NG tube placed/present at time of operation
- Presence of ileostomy/colostomy following planned surgery
- J-pouch reconstruction patient
