Inclusion & Exclusion Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
Patients 18 years old or older
Open and Laparoscopic surgery (as long as a GPOCUS view can be obtained safely and without patient discomfort)
Colon surgery (colectomy/proctectomy)
Small bowel resection
Scheduled/elective surgery
Exclusion Criteria
History of gastroparesis
History of gastric/bariatric surgery
Intubated
Large open abdominal wounds (including abdominal wound vac)
Complex abdominal wall reconstruction
Class III/IV wound class (contaminated/infected/dirty)
Emergency surgery
NG tube placed/present at time of operation
Presence of ileostomy/colostomy following planned surgery
J-pouch reconstruction patient
