Mission, Goals, Capabilities

X-ray irradiator shared resources in Thomas Jefferson University aim to provide researchers with X-ray irradiators for irradiating cells, tissues, and biomedical models. We currently have two X-ray irradiators from Precision X-ray Inc., located in Bluemle Life Building (BLSB). One on the 11th floor is designated for irradiating biomedical research models which are then to be housed in the vivarium. All the other samples must be irradiated by the other machine on the 7th floor. Both irradiators are operated by a user. To use the X-ray irradiators, you need to get training which occurs once a month. Each user will be given an account with a username and password to access the irradiators. To use the irradiator on the 11th floor of BLSB, you also need to obtain access to the room granted by the Laboratory Animal Service (LAS) facility staff. This access will be approved after completing the animal usage training conducted by LAS and having IACUC animal protocol which includes the irradiation procedure.
