Clinical Research Unit

Mission, Goals, Capabilities

The Clinical Research Unit has 6,500 sq feet and 14 inpatient research beds within TJUH.  The staff is experienced with the design, conduct and analysis of Phase 1 clinical research studies.


The Clinical Research Unit supports the following protocols, whether conducted with inpatients or outpatients:

  • First-In-Man
  • Safety and Tolerability
  • Pharmacokinetics Produced by Either Single or Multiple Dose Schedules
  • Pharmacokinetic-Pharmacodynamic Integration
  • Dose Escalation/Dose Ranging (e.g., alteration in the dose of drug administered during the study)
  • Food Interaction
  • Bioavailability
  • Bioequivalence
  • Metabolic Clearance/ radionucleotide
  • Phase II and III Multicenter Efficacy
