Jefferson and Princeton Universities announce collaborative agreement for structural biology research

The Office of the Provost at Jefferson has signed a collaborative agreement that provides our scientists access to the state-of-the-art microscopy resources at Princeton University’s Imaging and Analysis Center. The Center houses electron microscopes for visualization of biological specimens (e.g. frozen cells, sections, protein complexes, membrane proteins, etc.) with near atomic resolution. As recognized by the 2017 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, recent breakthroughs in Cryo-EM have revolutionized structural and cell biology. The newly installed 300kV Titan Krios G3 cryo Transmission Electron Microscope at Princeton offers the highest resolution of any scope in the region (https://www.azom.com/news.aspx?newsID=46998).

In addition to the Titan Krios, this agreement provides Jefferson faculty access to the broad range of equipment and expertise at Princeton’s Imaging and Analysis Center (https://materials.princeton.edu).  Also facilitating use by Jefferson faculty, the Center is professionally staffed, offers extensive training, and is available at subsidized rates. To arrange for use of the facility, please contact Dr. Gino Cingolani, Director, SKCC X-ray Crystallography & Macromolecular Characterization Shared Resource.
